Four students arrested after fight at New West high school

NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS 1130) — A fight at New Westminster Secondary has resulted in four students being arrested.

Police say no one was seriously hurt, but they are investigating reports one teen was assaulted by three others after an argument escalated into violence. The confrontation on an upper level walkway happened shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday.

According to New Westminster Police, child and youth resource officers are working with the school and district administration to find the details about what happened. They say all the students, staff and family involved are being supported.

“This was an isolated incident between specific students and no one was seriously injured. There is no risk to any other students at the school,” says Sgt. Jeff Scott.

A press release says the school “does not condone any fighting, bullying or harassment of others either on or off school property.”

School administrators say they’re working with police to make sure this doesn’t happen again, and it was an isolated incident.
